The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) allocated EGP 1.7 billion towards enhancing the digital skills of Egyptian youth, as disclosed by Ghada Labib, the Deputy Minister of MCIT.

MCIT devised a strategy to train 500,000 individuals in the ongoing fiscal year and aims to train one million more by the fiscal year 2029-2030.

These developments were announced during the DevOps Days Cairo 2024 conference, hosted by the Software Engineering Evaluation and Certification Center (SECC) under the Information Technology Industry Development Authority (ITIDA).

Deputy Minister Labib noted a remarkable 125-fold surge in trainee numbers over six years, with the total count reaching approximately 400,000. She stressed the critical role of the CIT sector, identifying it as a key focus area for the government.

This sector plays a vital role in services and production, significantly contributing to Egypt’s economy and advancing the nation’s digital transformation.
