Cairo: Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, took part in the “Pink Solidarity Day” conference, focusing on unified efforts to combat breast cancer. The event was held within the framework of the President’s initiative to support the health of Egyptian women, and was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Minister of Social Solidarity expressed the ministry’s dedication to supporting Egypt’s female fighters against breast cancer, emphasizing the various forms of support provided to leading institutions combating the disease. Dr. Morsi highlighted the launch of the “Pink October” campaign in October, aimed at raising awareness and supporting those fighting breast cancer. As part of the campaign, the Ministry of Solidarity’s building in the Administrative Capital was decorated in pink, symbolizing solidarity with the cause.
Dr. Morsi emphasized the unprecedented support provided by the Minist
ry of Social Solidarity to civil society institutions specializing in the medical field, in collaboration with the National Alliance for Civil Development Action. These Egyptian civil society institutions contribute significantly to improving public health by responding to about 30% of local community health service needs. The Minister also acknowledged the significant efforts made by the Ministry of Health in various health initiatives.
She further highlighted the President of the Republic’s commitment to the empowerment of Egyptian women, not only in political and social realms but also through health initiatives. The presidential initiative for women’s health has been instrumental in enhancing women’s empowerment by improving their health conditions, with 54 million tests and examinations conducted on 22 million women.
