Minister of International Cooperation Rania El Mashat conferred on Tuesday with Canadian Minister of International Development Harjit S. Sajjan and her accompanying delegation on means of boosting joint cooperation in all domains especially efforts to achieve food security, combating climate change and women empowerment.
During the meeting, Mashat underlined the close cooperation between Egypt and Canada which has been reflected in various cooperation and development programs of common interest with the objective of helping Egypt implement the state’s vision for 2030.
Mashat extended an invitation to the Canadian side to take part in the 2nd edition of Egypt International Cooperation forum (Egypt-ICF), due to be held in September, with the participation of African environment and finance ministers to discuss efforts needed to activate climate action and coordinate African stances regarding the projects of coping up with climate change ahead of the UN Climate COP27 which is set for November in Sharm El Sheikh.
The two ministers also addressed the outcome of development projects carried out by the Canadian side in the governorates of Kafr El Sheikh and El Beheira. They also probed opportunities for future cooperation to propel comprehensive development plans in light of Egypt’s national priorities.
Egyptian-Canadian relations were established in 1976 as the total value of Canada’s finance to development in Egypt hit 1.2 billion Canadian dollars.
