Cairo: Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, along with Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat and UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Al Jaber, witnessed the signing of significant agreements with a consortium comprising UAE’s Masdar, Infinity, and Hassan Allam. This event marks a pivotal step in Egypt’s renewable energy landscape.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreements include power purchase arrangements for the development of two solar power plants with a combined capacity of 1.2 gigawatts. These projects will also incorporate advanced energy storage systems capable of storing 720 megawatts of power. This development is set to commence its initial phase of operations and connect to the national grid by July 2025, with full completion anticipated by the end of that year.
Minister Mahmoud Esmat emphasized the government’s dedication to promoting public-private partnerships and attracting both local and international investments in the clean
energy sector. He stated that the collaboration with the Masdar-Infinity-Hassan Allam consortium serves as a strategic model, highlighting the introduction of advanced battery storage systems. This technology, which is increasingly utilized worldwide, aims to stabilize renewable energy networks and enhance power usage efficiency, especially during periods of high demand.
