NEW YORK: The United Nations Population Fund confirmed on Sunday that ‘malnutrition in Gaza poses a great danger to pregnant women and newborns, amid an increase in stillbirths and low-weight children who suffer from wasting and delayed growth.’

The UN Fund added, in a post on X that ‘it has become increasingly common for the birth of low-weight babies in Gaza.’

He said, “Malnutrition in Gaza poses a great danger to pregnant women and newborns, amid an increase in stillbirths, low-weight children, and others suffering from wasting and delayed growth.”

Local health authorities confirmed that the Palestinian death toll from the Israeli onslaught since October 7 has risen to 38,983 reported fatalities, with an additional 89,727 individuals sustaining injuries. The majority of the victims are women and children.

Ambulance and rescue teams are still unable to reach many casualties and dead bodies trapped under the rubble or scattered on roads across the war-torn enclave, as Israeli occupation forces continue t
o obstruct the movement of ambulance and civil defense crews.
