Cairo: Malian Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop visited the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) to explore ways of strengthening cooperation between the center and Mali. The visit focused on enhancing collaboration to promote peace and stability in Africa.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Director General of the CCCPA Ahmed Nehad Abdel-Latif briefed Minister Diop on the center’s initiatives aimed at building the capabilities of African personnel. These efforts underscore Egypt’s dedication to fostering stability in Africa by reinforcing national institutions. Abdel-Latif emphasized the center’s commitment to supporting Mali in combating extremism and terrorism, and in peacebuilding efforts, aligning with broader initiatives to counter terrorism and achieve lasting peace.
Abdel-Latif highlighted a previous session held by the center in Mali in 2023, which aimed to enhance the role of religious leaders in preventing extremism and terrorism. Thi
s initiative is part of the center’s ongoing efforts to support sustainable peace across the continent.
Minister Diop praised the CCCPA for its significant contributions to peacekeeping and peacebuilding in Africa. He also expressed his appreciation for the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development’s fourth edition, held on July 2-3, which focused on re-envisioning global governance for peace and development in a changing world.
