Minister of State for Emigration Nabila Makram hailed on Sunday Al Azhar as a strong edifice that represents a main pillar with the Church for integration and unity in Egypt.
Makram was speaking during a symposium, held by the Association of Islamic Universities, on Al-Azhar’s role in developing the Islamic education in the Asian countries in the presence of Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center Anba Jeremiah, Grand Mufti Shawki Allam, and President of Al-Azhar University Mohamed El Mahrsawy.
Makram valued cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Orthodox Church, saying Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb and Pope Tawadros II are keen on receiving sons of the second and third generations of Egyptian expats, expressing her happiness for joining the board of trustees of the Egyptian Family House to consolidate tolerance.
The minister pointed out that the Emigration Ministry would launch the sixth edition of Egypt Can by Industry conference.
She pointed to the Awqaf Ministry’s supportive efforts to her ministry in the governorates which see high levels of illegal immigration and providing Egyptians abroad with books to combat extremism.
She also referred to the cooperation between her ministry and Al-Azhar in the Good Offspring initiative and the pioneering role of its observatory against extremism.
