Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, stressed that the security of the airport is under the control of the Lebanese army, adding that there are arrangements that the state can adopt to protect the key facilities from the Israeli attacks.

Interviewed by MTV channel, Makary saw no signs of an imminent election of a president of the republic under the current circumstances. ‘Some call for electing a president before a ceasefire,’ he said, adding, ‘For me, I see that the logic says that ceasefire is a priority before anything else.’

Moreover, Makary said that ‘Hezbollah’s military machine is still ongoing following the killing of the party chief,’ but he called Hezbollah to release more statements with further details about the operations.

Furthermore, Makary hailed the internal solidarity with the displaced and the national unity that have been prevailing since over a million people left their homes.

‘The Lebanese youth defending the land are now our sole backbone and we are counting on them,’ he
said.

About the presidential file, Makary said that the ‘legitimate president is the one who gathers the Lebanese and has the ability to communicate with all sides, internally and externally.’ ‘I believe Sleiman Frangieh is capable of playing this role,’ he underlined.
