Majra dedicates specialised platform for SMEs at COP28 to showcase their best practices, sustainable products

The CSR UAE Fund (Majra) has allocated a platform at COP28 to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that allows entrepreneurs to showcase their best practices, projects, and innovative and sustainable products.

Dana Kamali, Head of the Business Sector at Majra, told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of COP28, that the platform, which hosts 13 innovative and sustainability-driven SMEs, contributes to creating a sustainable future.

Kamali explained that in addition to the platform, Majra launched several discussion panels, training courses, and workshops at COP28, including a dialogue session in cooperation with e-Youth, a leading MENA region EdTech Platform that empowers Arab youth.Titled “The Sustainable Future,” the session featured a panel of international speakers who highlighted the critical skills required for green jobs – an area where the UAE is focusing heavily to achieve its long-term sustainability goals.

A guide will be launched in this regard to reach out to a larger segmen
t of society, she added.

Kamali said that Majra aims to make the UAE a global driver of sustainable impact, which is reflected in the country’s commitment to sustainable development through national plans and initiatives such as the Year of Sustainability, COP28, the UAE Centennial 2071, and the UAE Energy Strategy 2050.

Majra was established as the federal body responsible for developing the regulatory framework for social responsibility and sustainable impact in the UAE. It is responsible for managing and directing the private sector’s efforts towards initiatives with national priorities aligned with environmental, social and governance indicators and sustainable development goals.
