Major General Abbas Ibrahim wrote today on his platform “X” account: “Electricity here is a never-ending story. Many champions of promises have emerged, ranging from 24 hours to 10 hours, but there is no meter for words as long as no one holds anyone accountable. And here is the only “zero hour” that lights up our places.

We want to collect from people but refuse to settle the dues we owe except according to a schedule where those who helped us when we were threatened with darkness are placed at the bottom of the priority list. We have not fulfilled our promises to provide services to our dear Iraq, nor to pay the money as we recently renewed the pledge.

Commitment is required, and the work in state facilities will proceed smoothly. What is needed is adherence to promises and respecting commitments, not throwing words around carelessly or accusing those who worked hard to serve people, simply because they illuminated their darkness and revealed what was hidden behind their obscurity.

It is the word-commit
to it, and the nights of people will be illuminated. But you prefer darkness because it hides and conceals all your actions. The rest will follow.”
