Madbouly Directs Construction of 50,000 New Housing Units for Low-Income Egyptians


CAIRO: In a significant development aimed at addressing housing needs, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly has directed the implementation of 50,000 new housing units for low-income individuals and youth under the “Housing for All Egyptians” presidential initiative. This directive emerges amid ongoing efforts to expand accessible housing solutions.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the directive was issued during a meeting between Prime Minister Madbouly and Engineer Sherif El-Shorbagy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities. The meeting focused on reviewing the status of various housing projects and initiatives, including the “Your Home in Egypt” initiative, which targets Egyptians residing abroad. The initiative plans to offer approximately 5,055 residential units and villas in several new cities, with bookings set to open in early February 2025.

Engineer El-Shorbagy provided a detailed overview of the housing projects, highlighting the preparation of 78,730 housing units for lo
w- and middle-income individuals under the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians (5).” Of these, 23,958 units are ready for delivery within the governorates, while 12,990 units are ready for delivery in the new cities. The remaining 41,782 units are expected to be delivered over the next 36 months in the new cities.

The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the public’s trust in the initiative, which aims to provide affordable housing options to various segments of society. He also directed the implementation of an additional 50,000 residential units for middle-income individuals and opened reservations for interested parties.

During the meeting, El-Shorbagy discussed progress on several national projects, such as those in New Alamein City, the New Administrative Capital, and downtown Cairo. These projects include the beachfront towers, the downtown project and its extension, the Latin Quarter, and the heritage city, among others. The Minister also addressed development opportunities in the
North Coast Marina project and various investment prospects in the tourism, hospitality, commercial, and service sectors.

Furthermore, El-Shorbagy reviewed the status of the Grand Revelation project in Saint Catherine City and ongoing development projects in downtown Cairo, including the Maspero Triangle, Sor Magra Al-Ayoun, and the historical Azbakeya Garden. He also provided updates on infrastructure and utility projects in the New Administrative Capital, emphasizing the importance of coordinated site development.
