Madbouly Chairs Meeting to Launch Alstom Railways Components Manufacturing Project


Cairo: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Group for Industrial Development, marking a significant step in Egypt’s industrial expansion. Attendees included Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, and several key ministers, such as Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, and others.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting approved the establishment of a new project named “Alstom Railways Components Manufacturing LLC” within the special free zones system. This project aims to create an industrial complex in Borg Al-Arab City, featuring the construction of two factories for metro line spare parts and cables on a 40-acre site.



Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir presented key topics, including the utilization of land surrounding a sanitary landfill in the city of 10th of Ramadan. This plan involves establishing factories that focus on recycling landfill waste, such as interlock, biogas, and fertilizers. Additionally, requests from companies to establish waste recycling stations within the project scope were discussed.



The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted the progress of the integrated waste management complex project in 10th of Ramadan. This project aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and includes infrastructure works such as utility connections, road construction, and wastewater treatment. Cooperation models between the public and private sectors were also presented.



Prime Minister Madbouly emphasized the need for a clear plan detailing the targeted factories’ production capacities and the priorities for the utility network’s implementation.



Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir further discussed plans to utilize lands of the Iron and Steel Company and the Coke Company in the Tebin area for environmentally friendly industrial activities, following presidential approval. The session also examined the results and proposals related to the national programme for automotive industry development incentives.
