Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli highlighted the significant role played by the maritime transport sector in boosting Egypt’s trade and increasing its exports, affirming the importance of strengthening cooperation frameworks with various friendly countries in the field.
The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting he held on Monday with Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir to follow up on the measures taken to foster Egypt’s maritime cooperation with Tunisia and Algeria.
During the meeting, attended by senior officials from the Transport Ministry, Wazir reviewed the memorandums of understanding (MoUs) the Egyptian government has signed with the governments of Tunisia and Algeria to bolster cooperation in the maritime transport field.
He also pointed out to proposed draft MoUs in this sector which aim to increase maritime transport activities in the three countries.
Meanwhile, the meeting touched on ongoing coordination to operate a navigation line between Egypt and Italy in a way that helps promote the exchange of commodities and trade between both countries; given Italy’s position as a key trade partner for Egypt.
