The Greater Madaba Municipality and the Cities and Villages Development Bank (CVDB) on Wednesday signed a JD1.5 million joint cooperation agreement. The purpose of this agreement is to expand the municipality’s craft city. The agreement was signed by Mayor Arif Al-Rawajeeh and CVDB Director Osama Al-Azzam. Al-Rawajeeh said that the expansion will be on an area of 40 dunums for the purpose of creating jobs for craftsmen and supporting them by providing shops to practice their professions. This project is expected to provide about 500 direct and indirect jobs. “We seek to ensure that this investment provides the Municipality Fund with financial revenues to turn into a fixed source of income and a real investment opportunity that will be positively reflected in the municipality’s services, in addition to preserving the environment and public cleanliness, limiting the practice of craft professions within the municipal borders, organizing and eliminating noise, and creating a healthy and good tourist environment,” Al-Rawajeeh added. “We look forward to turn the craft city in Madaba into a regional model city due to the large number of professional expertise it houses, as the municipality will contribute to paying 25 per cent of the total project, amounting to JD375,000”, Al-Rawajeeh concluded.
