Lower House Speaker Meets Chairman of Chile-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group


Rabat – House of Representatives Speaker Rachid Talbi Alami held, here on Tuesday, talks with Chairman of Chile-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group Jaime Naranjo Ortiz, who is currently on a working visit to Morocco alongside members of the group, on the topic of strengthening parliamentary cooperation.

During this meeting, they reviewed relations between the two countries in various fields, namely parliamentary, stressing the importance of reinforcing bilateral and multilateral parliamentary coordination, states a press release from the Lower House.

Talbi Alami underlined the importance of exchanging experiences and expertise between the Moroccan and Chilean parliament, noting that he presented Naranjo Ortiz and the accompanying delegation with an overview of the legislative institution, its composition, roles and constitutional prerogatives, adds the same source.

He also outlined the major projects and reforms undertaken by the Kingdom in various fields, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, no
tably with regard to generalizing social protection, modernizing infrastructures, as well as developing renewable energies, major industries and various aspects of global and multidimensional development.

For his part, Naranjo Ortiz commended the strong ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Chile, noting that Morocco and Chile enjoy an excellent geostrategic position. Morocco is a gateway to Africa and a model to follow in several fields, he added.

The Chilean parliamentary delegation highlighted aspects of cooperation between the two legislative institutions and the broad prospects for bilateral cooperation in general, in vital areas such as artificial intelligence, climate change, agriculture, tourism, the economy, social and spatial development, and other issues of mutual interest.
