The Lebanese government said on Tuesday that the explosions that occurred to wireless communication devices (pagers) in a number of areas are a “criminal Israeli aggression that constitutes a serious violation of Lebanese sovereignty.”
In a statement, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati made urgent calls to the army commander and the heads of the security bodies, and briefed them on the circumstances of the explosions, which led to the death of dozens of martyrs and injuries.
He stressed that Lebanon immediately started contacting the concerned countries and the United Nations to urge them to bear their responsibilities regarding this persistent crime, and that the Cabinet decided to keep its meetings open to follow up on the situation.
