Israeli warplanes Saturday killed 5 people and injured 14 others in a raid on the town of Al-Maaysra in the Keserwan district, according to official medical figures.

A Lebanese security official told Petra’s correspondent in Beirut, “The martyrs and wounded who fell as a result of the raid that targeted the town of Deir Bella in the outskirts of Batroun are being transferred to hospitals while the search operation continues at the site.”

He added, “The Israeli warplanes renewed their raids on the border crossings north of Hermel in the northern Lebanese Bekaa, targeting the Hosh al-Sayyed Ali crossing and the outskirts of Wadi Faysan.

“[Israeli] drones continued their movements at medium altitude over the surroundings of the villages of Baalbek-Hermel.”

He added, “As for the south, the town of Aita al-Shaab is being subjected to a large-scale air aggression, as Israeli warplanes launched more than 15 raids targeting its residential neighbourhoods in conjunction with concentrated artillery shelling of the
town.”

The daily report issued by the Lebanese government indicated that 78 Israeli raids targeted Lebanese areas during the past 24 hours.

UNIFIL stated that one of its peacekeepers was wounded last night at the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura by gunfire due to ongoing military operations in the area.
