The former coordinator of the Lebanese government with UNIFIL, Brigadier General Mounir Shehadeh, said that Hezbollah “is now fighting based on the fact that it has nothing left to lose after the assassination of its Secretary-General and first-tier leaders.”

In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Shehadeh pointed out that “from now on there will be a gradual escalation and targeting of places beyond Haifa and Tel Aviv. Hezbollah has begun targeting residential areas in Haifa, and has begun working according to the equation of Haifa versus the suburb.”

He pointed out that “Hezbollah relies on ground warfare and engagement at zero distance, in order to confirm its cohesion and ability after the very harsh blows it received, which were supposed to lead to its surrender or collapse.”
