Launch of the activities of the “First Semiconductor Day” in Palestine

Ramallah- Ma’an- Under the patronage of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Economy, Minister of Telecommunications Dr. Abdul Razzaq Natsheh participated in the activities of the first Semiconductor Day in Palestine. In his opening speech, the Minister stressed that the semiconductor sector is a great opportunity for growth and innovation in light of the global economic transformations towards the digital economy.

He pointed out the importance of concerted efforts between the government, the private sector, and universities in order to exploit this opportunity to boost the Palestinian economy and open new horizons in the global arena, especially for Orion, which has become a gateway for Palestine in international semiconductor markets.

In his speech, His Excellency the Minister stressed the need to empower Palestinian youth, affirming that Palestinian students are among the most prominent in the world in the fields of technology and computer engineering. He added that the government is intensifyi
ng its efforts to support innovation and institutional development, to enable Palestinian companies to keep pace with global developments in this vital sector.

For his part, Dr. Nassib Nasser, CEO of Orion, expressed his pride in launching the ‘First Palestinian Semiconductor Day’ in partnership with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Economy. He stressed that this event represents an important milestone in presenting new visions and innovations in the field of technology, pointing to the importance of discussions and meetings that will contribute to the development of this sector. Nasser also stressed that Orion aspires to be a pioneer in enhancing Palestine’s presence in the semiconductor industry, and is working to establish a technological nucleus through Rawabi City, which is the first technological incubator in Palestine.

Orion Integrated Circuits Technologies is the first Palestinian company specialized in designing advanced computer chips. The company serves global markets and leverages
the expertise of its team to develop a unique Palestinian computer chip. Orion was founded in 2023 with only four engineers and today has more than 56 engineers. The company seeks to build an advanced Palestinian industry in the field of integrated circuits and computer chips, paving the way for talented engineers to enter this new field in Palestine.

It is worth noting that Orion Company is one of the companies supported by the TechStart project for Youth and Jobs, which is managed by the Ministry in partnership with the World Bank.

This event confirms Palestine’s determination to be part of the global technology economy, and represents an advanced step towards enhancing local innovation and creativity in one of the most advanced technical fields.
