Cairo: Minister of Labor Mohamed Gibran recently welcomed a delegation from Vietnam’s National Textile and Garment Union at his office in the New Administrative Capital. The delegation, led by Pham Thi Thanh Tam, the union’s president, included other officials from the organization. Also present at the meeting were Abdel Fattah Ibrahim, head of the General Union for Workers in Spinning and Weaving, and secretary-general of both the Arab and International Unions for Spinning and Weaving, along with members of the union’s executive team.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the primary focus of the meeting was to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation in areas such as vocational training and the exchange of expertise, particularly in the spinning and weaving sector. Minister Gibran expressed his warm welcome to the Vietnamese delegation, underscoring Egypt’s ongoing efforts to navigate global challenges and revitalize its industrial sector under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi
. He noted that Egypt’s spinning and weaving industry is experiencing a resurgence, reaffirming its historical leadership in the field.
During the discussions, Minister Gibran detailed the government’s various initiatives, including presidential programs aimed at providing social protection and elevating living standards for citizens, with a focus on the most vulnerable populations. He emphasized the need to fortify labor relations to create an environment that attracts both local and foreign investments while ensuring job security for workers.
Additionally, Gibran highlighted Egypt’s recent membership in the Global Alliance for Social Justice, under the auspices of the International Labour Organization, as a testament to the country’s dedication to upholding international labor standards. He also pointed to the ambitious projects and industrial cities in the New Republic, which are anticipated to generate millions of jobs and contribute to inclusive economic development.
