King Hussein Cancer Foundation Launches “Healthy Environment” Campaign

The King Hussein Cancer Foundation launched an awareness campaign on Wednesday titled “Healthy Environment Against Cancer,” to promote the importance of reducing environmental pollution and combating smoking to curb air pollution.

In a statement, the foundation highlighted scientific research linking environmental preservation with cancer prevention, noting that smoking is responsible for 80 percent of lung cancer cases. Furthermore, 36 percent of lung cancer deaths are attributed to air pollution.

Foundation Director General, Nisreen Qatamesh, underlined the organization’s commitment to a comprehensive cancer treatment and prevention strategy. She emphasized ongoing efforts to raise public health awareness and encourage sustainable environmental practices to help reduce cancer rates.

The campaign, supported by the Ministries of Environment and Health and Al Etihad Bank, includes activities across the Kingdom to promote positive environmental and health practices among individuals and institutions.
