Cairo: Justice Minister Adnan Fangary and UNDP Resident Representative to Egypt Alessandro Fracassetti have signed a memorandum of cooperation and launched a report on the performance of Legal Aid Offices (LAOs) in Family Courts. The collaboration marks a significant step in improving legal aid services and dispute resolution mechanisms in Egypt’s family justice system.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Fangary praised the ongoing collaboration with the UNDP, highlighting its role in enhancing the functioning of LAOs in Family Courts and strengthening the mediation capabilities of Dispute Settlement Offices (DSOs). He emphasized President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to bolster family justice and increase public awareness, especially among the most vulnerable, about the significance of legal aid offices.
The cooperation protocol is designed to address family-related issues and facilitate out-of-court dispute settlements. It aims to further develop legal aid offices by improving infrastructu
re, digitization, and capacity-building efforts. These enhancements are intended to boost the operational and technical capabilities of LAOs, DSOs, and family court judges.
Fangary assured that the Justice Ministry remains committed to achieving justice for all, reinforcing the resilience of Egyptian families in the face of challenges.
Meanwhile, Fracassetti commended Egypt’s advancements in digital transformation and governance, considering it a pioneering regional experience in achieving sustainable development goals. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation with Egypt in areas supporting these goals and acknowledged the successful partnership with the Justice Ministry in upholding the rule of law.
