Jumblatt discusses crisis management, national initiative in virtual meetings

Former Progressive Socialist Party leader, Walid Jumblatt, alongside current leader MP Taymour Jumblatt, on Monday held two virtual meetings to review crisis management efforts in West Aley and Choueifat-Khaldeh.

During the discussions, Jumblatt outlined the purpose of the recent trilateral meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Najib Mikati, describing it as an attempt to chart a national roadmap.

“The initiative aims to halt Israeli aggression, reaffirm Lebanon’s readiness to implement UN Resolution 1701, and deploy the Lebanese Army with UNIFIL in the south,” he said. He also stressed the urgency of electing a consensus president.

Jumblatt noted that no major political party would be excluded and that MP Wael Abou Faour was tasked with engaging Christian forces to broaden national understanding.

Additionally, Jumblatt emphasized the need for unified national efforts in aiding displaced persons, citing continued war challenges and highlighting the role of the Farah Social Foundation in huma
nitarian support.
