JTB Wraps Up Participation in Umrah, Hajj International Tourism Fair

Amman: The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) concluded its participation in the Umrah and Hajj International Tourism Fair held in Malaysia and Indonesia.

The event saw the participation of representatives from the Jordanian embassies in Indonesia and Malaysia, along with several Jordanian tourism and travel offices.

According to a statement by the Board on Monday, Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, Director General of the JTB, highlighted the significance of Jordan’s involvement in the exhibition through the establishment of the Jordanian pavilion.

He emphasized the importance of the fair in discussing mechanisms for cooperation between tourism and travel agencies and hotels focused on religious tourism, which contributes to increasing the number of tourists to various religious destinations.

Arabiyat underscored the importance of incorporating Jordan’s religious sites in the itineraries prepared for Malaysian tourists following their pilgrimage to Mecca for Hajj and Umrah.

He added that participating in the exhibition is
part of the JTB’s ongoing promotional efforts in southeast Asia, underscoring Jordan’s position as a premier tourism destination with the capability to attract tourists from Malaysia and Indonesia, particularly for Islamic religious tourism.

During the event, the JTB hosted several workshops and business meetings involving the Jordanian and Malaysian tourism sectors. These events included tourism and travel offices, media figures, opinion leaders, influencers, airline companies, and representatives of relevant commercial sectors.

Representatives of the Jordanian tourism and travel agencies, along with the participating delegation, engaged with their Malaysian counterparts during these workshops held in Kuala Lumpur. The official opening was conducted by the Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs, who commended Jordan’s participation and strong bilateral relations.

The Malaysian and Indonesian markets are considered among the most significant for tourism, being relatively unaffected by the regional politic
al situation. These markets are seen as large, promising sources of Islamic religious tourism.
