JSMO marks World Standards Day; plegdes to boost performance

Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) participates with international, regional and national standardization bodies in celebrating the World Standards Day (WSD), which falls on October 14 annually.

According to a JSMO statement Sunday, this year’s celebration comes under the slogan “A Shared Vision for a Better World: Standards for Sustainable Development Goals,” emphasizing the importance of partnerships to achieve the sustainable development goals, aimed to address social imbalances, develop a sustainable economy and confront climate change.

On the ocassion, JSMO director general, Abeer Zuhair, said the organization will continue its efforts to develop the quality infrastructure to support economic development and community well-being.

To date, Zuhair noted the JSMO has issued more than 3,000 Jordanian standard specifications and technical bases in various sectors, including renewable energy, sustainable cities, and environmentally friendly construction products.

Zuhair stressed the “vital”
role of standardization in promoting economic growth and raising the quality of national products, which increases their “competitiveness” in global markets.

Since its establishment, she stated the JSMO has sought to develop “quality” infrastructure activities, in coordination with relevant authorities and in accordance with the best international practices.

Zuhair added: “The JSMO renews its commitment to working hard to develop standard specifications that align with future needs and create appropriate solutions to economic and climate challenges. The organization looks forward to achieving further cooperation with its partners in the Kingdom’s public and private sectors to realize a shared vision for a sustainable future.”
