Jordan’s participation in Paris Olympics concludes with silver medal


Amman: The Jordanian delegation concluded its participation in the 33rd edition of the Olympic Games in Paris on Saturday with a silver medal won by Taekwondo champion Zaid Mustafa.

Today, the national Taekwondo team player, Rama Abu Al-Rub, participated in the over 67 kg weight competitions, and the national athletics team player, Muaz Al-Khawaldeh, in the marathon race.

Abu Al-Rub was eliminated from the quarterfinal round after losing two rounds to one to the world champion in the last edition, Turkey’s Nafia Kushayden.

For his part, Khawaldeh finished his participation in the 42.195-kilometer marathon on Saturday with a time of 2:20:01 hours, placing 65th out of 81 participants.

Jordan raised its historical medal tally at the Olympic Games to four medals in the last three editions, including a gold medal in taekwondo by Ahmad Abu Ghosh in 2016, two silver medals in taekwondo by Saleh Al-Sharbati and Zaid Mustafa in 2020 and 2024, and a bronze medal by karate player Abdulrahman Al-Masatfeh in the most
recent edition.

The Paris Olympics will conclude on Sunday, with a ceremony at the Stade de France starting at 10:00 pm Jordan time.
