Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, said today that this year has been the most deadly for Palestinians in over a decade, affirming that Israel cannot continue to be a state above international law.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Amman, Jordan, with his Slovenian and Portuguese counterparts Tanja Fajon and Joao Cravinho, Safadi emphasized the urgent need for continued international efforts to halt the aggression in Gaza.
Safadi added that Israel is attacking anyone who disagrees with its policies, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and stressing that Israel cannot remain above international law. He underscored the importance of the international community paying attention to the escalating Israeli actions against the Palestinian people.
Addressing Israel’s decision to boycott the Union for the Mediterranean meeting in Barcelona tomorrow, Safadi noted that Israel must face responsibility for its war crimes and genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. He asserted th
at the displacement of Gaza’s population can never be a solution but would exacerbate the already dire situation.
Slovenian Foreign Minister Fajon praised Jordan’s role in achieving security and peace in the region and expressed Slovenia’s shared concerns regarding developments in the West Bank.
She affirmed her country’s rejection of forced displacement in Gaza and called for a permanent ceasefire, urging the allowance of maximum humanitarian aid into the region.
Meantime, Portuguese Foreign Minister Cravinho rejected the forced displacement of Gaza’s population, emphasizing that diplomatic and political solutions are the only means to resolve the conflict in the region.
He highlighted the importance of achieving a two-state solution, emphasizing that the West Bank and Gaza are a single geographical unit. Cravinho concluded by expressing his country’s support for achieving a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
