Jordanian Marathon Association, Jordan Athletics Federation Sign Cooperation Agreement


The Jordanian Marathon Association, Run Jordan, and the Jordan Athletics Federation have formalized their collaboration by signing a cooperation agreement on Wednesday.

This initiative aims to establish essential arrangements for both parties to jointly organize and manage athletics races and competitions, ultimately promoting the development of running and long-distance sports while providing participants with greater access to available opportunities.

As part of the agreement, the Jordan Athletics Federation will classify the races organized by the Jordanian Marathon Association internationally, adhering to the standards set by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

This collaboration is expected to enhance the association’s reputation as a leading entity in organizing running races and marathons at local and international levels, thereby improving professionalism and gaining international recognition for the events it oversees.

Furthermore, the partnership will enable participan
ts to officially register their race times within the Jordan Athletics Federation’s schedule, increasing their chances of competing in international events. This step underscores the association’s commitment to developing athletes’ skills and facilitating their achievements in the realm of sports.

The agreement was signed by Fawzi Mas’ad, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Marathon Association, and Walid Al-Rahhalah, Chairman of the Temporary Committee of the Jordan Athletics Federation, in the presence of all members of the Temporary Committee.

Al-Rahhalah stated, “We will work alongside the Jordanian Marathon Association to create a comprehensive framework for organizing races and developing athletes’ skills, contributing to the elevation of sports in the Kingdom.”

Mas’ad highlighted that this partnership represents a significant stride toward unifying efforts to advance both local and international races. “We are committed to enhancing the sports of running and walking and supporting Jordanian athletes
in reaching competitive levels on the global stage,” he said.

His Highness Prince Firas bin Ra’ad, Chairman of the Jordanian Marathon Association, expressed his support for the agreement, emphasizing the association’s dedication to promoting the sport of running and marathons.

This agreement marks a pivotal development in enhancing the landscape of running and long-distance sports in Jordan, focusing on the unification of efforts between the Jordanian Marathon Association and the Jordan Athletics Federation to create an exceptional sports environment that fosters the growth of local athletes and elevates the competitive standards of the sport.
