The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a warning against the Israeli occupation’s seizure of the land of UNRWA’s main headquarters in East Jerusalem, according to Jordan’s Petra news agency.
The ministry also vehemently condemned Israeli attempts to end the Agency’s operations in the occupied Palestinian territories and the systematic incitement against it, describing these actions as a blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter and the immunities and privileges of UN organizations operating in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Sufian Al-Qudah, the Ministry’s spokesperson, emphasized that ‘Israel’s decisions are in violation of international law and Security Council resolutions, such as Resolution No. 2334, and go against Israel’s obligations as an occupying power.’
He said that Israel continues to seek to tighten its grip and consolidate its occupation of the Palestinian territories, stressing that Israel’s repeated attacks on UNRWA represent a blatant violation
of the international community’s immunity and a breach of the UN Charter, as well as Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, including Resolution No. 2730, which calls for the protection of UN agencies and humanitarian workers, as reported by Petra.
In light of the severe humanitarian crisis resulting from Israel’s ongoing aggression in Gaza and the West Bank, Al-Qudah issued a stark warning regarding the catastrophic impact of the Israeli campaign of accusations and actions aimed at politically undermining UNRWA and obstructing its efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
Al-Qudah stressed the importance of ongoing political and financial support from the international community to safeguard UNRWA’s international mission and ensure its continued provision of essential services to Palestinian refugees across its five operational areas.
