Jordanian-Egyptian strategy for Gaza relief is to be presented at emergency international conference, say experts

All eyes are on the emergency international conference on the urgent humanitarian response for Gaza on June 11, co-organised by Jordan, Egypt and the United Nations.

The conference is being held at the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and United Nations Secretary General Ant?nio Guterres at the level of heads of state, heads of government and heads of international humanitarian and relief organizations.

Politicians and diplomats are counting on the outcomes of the conference, which aims to identify ways to strengthen the international community’s response to the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, and aims to identify effective mechanisms and steps to respond, the operational and logistical needs needed in this context, and the commitment to coordinate a unified response to the humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressing that this conference will be successful in light of the efforts made by Jordan and its Hashemite leadership, His Majesty King Abdullah, in
coordination with Egypt and the United Nations.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), politicians and diplomats emphasized the importance of the conference and its timing, which comes as a continuation of Jordan’s and Egypt’s efforts to support the Palestinian cause, end the war on Gaza and provide relief to the Palestinian people.

Atef Salem, former Egyptian ambassador to Tel Aviv, said that Jordan’s hosting of this important conference is a continuation of the Jordanian-Egyptian-UN role to hold Israel fully responsibile for preventing the entry of relief materials and humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and to address the Israeli authorities’ failure to fulfill their duties as an occupying power and attempts to obstruct movements aimed at delivering aid to Gaza, noting that this conference lays the foundation for a joint and balanced international role to address the effects of the war left by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, which required the support of the people of Gaza, especially in terms of th
e provision of aid.
