Amman: Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and the UAE Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah Al Nahyan, Wednesday condemned the continued Israeli incursions into the Al Aqsa Mosque.
Safadi and Al Nahyan discussed over the phone the incident where an Israeli extremist minister, MKs and Jewish groups stormed the Al Aqsa Mosque Wednesday protected by Israeli police.
They denounced the Israeli government’s decision to allow the so-called flag march in occupied Jerusalem and the pursuant aggression against the Palestinians, extremist racist practices, imposing restrictions on Muslim worshipers’ access to the Al Aqsa Mosque and restricting the movement of worshipers in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
Safadi and Al Nahyan urged Israel to stop its “illegal and illegitimate” measures that undermine the chances of achieving a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
They said the whole of the Al Aqsa Mosque is a pure place of worship for Muslims, calling for Israel to respect the historical
and legal status existing in the Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
Al Nahyan discussed Jordan’s custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, praising its role in protecting the identity of the Arab, Islamic and Christian Sanctities.
