Brigadier Doctor Yousef Zureikat, Director General of the Royal Medical Services (RMS), announced the upcoming dispatch of a specialized Jordanian field hospital focused on obstetrics and neonatal care to Khan Younis, Gaza.

The deployment, scheduled in four phases, is expected to be completed by mid-November when the hospital will start receiving patients.

The hospital, a groundbreaking initiative as the first of its kind

worldwide, is being established under royal directives with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army overseeing the process. This effort is in collaboration with Pious Projects, a US-based organization.

At a press conference held at King Hussein Medical City, Zureikat highlighted that this facility will be integrated into the existing Jordanian field hospital “Khan Younis 4,” which already performs advanced surgeries and provides prosthetic limb installation services.

The new addition underscores the Kingdom’s continuous support for Palestine, driven by His Majesty King Abdullah II’s dedicatio
n to aiding those in need.

The hospital will feature four operating rooms, including one for caesarean sections and another for natural births. It will have five resuscitation beds, 30 postpartum beds, 10 incubators, and additional units such as solar energy support to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Zureikat emphasized that the facility will be staffed by 82 specialists and nurses, with 55 from the RMS.

Though difficult to predict the number of patients, Zureikat affirmed that all medical teams are fully prepared to handle various cases.

The hospital’s location in Gaza is being finalized in cooperation with the Gaza Municipality and armed forces, with rehabilitation efforts already underway.

This initiative follows closely on the heels of the RMS’s Restoring Hope initiative, launched to provide prosthetic limbs to amputees in Gaza. King Abdullah personally oversaw the preparation of the field hospital last Sunday.
