Amman: Nabil Khatib, the First Vice President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, engaged in discussions with Sri Lankan Ambassador Priyangika Wijegunasekera on enhancing economic ties through reciprocal visits by delegations and trade missions.

Khatib emphasized encouraging the private sectors in both nations to foster collaboration in commerce, tourism, and investment.

He underscored the importance of boosting visits by economic delegations, organizing exhibitions, facilitating bilateral meetings between Jordanian and Sri Lankan entrepreneurs, and expanding the range of exchanged goods.

Khatib also highlighted the need to support existing tourism cooperation opportunities and explore ways to promote tourism by connecting travel companies in both countries. He proposed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Amman Chamber of Commerce and its Sri Lankan counterpart as an initial step towards reinforcing bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

During the meeting at the Chamber’s headquarte
rs, Khatib expressed readiness to host a trade delegation comprising Sri Lankan businessmen to explore opportunities in Jordan, familiarize themselves with the economic landscape, and learn about positive developments in the national economy.

Wijegunasekera acknowledged the evolving commercial, investment, and diplomatic ties between Jordan and Sri Lanka, dating back to 1965.

She conveyed her country’s eagerness to strengthen economic and trade relations, leveraging Jordan’s secure and stable business environment. Additionally, she emphasized enhancing tourism cooperation between the two nations.
