Jordan Partakes in Arab Finance Ministries Meeting

Amman: The Ministry of Finance, represented by Secretary-General Abdul Hakim Shibli, participated in the ninth meeting of Undersecretaries of Ministries of Finance in Arab Countries.

The event, organized by the Arab Monetary Fund in Abu Dhabi, brought together experts from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCED) to discuss financial policy issues in Arab countries.

During the meeting, Shibli presented several papers highlighting Jordan’s experience in addressing challenges related to high financing costs and enhancing the efficiency of government spending.

He also highlighted Jordan’s success in fulfilling the requirements of the economic reform program (2020-2024), a collaborative effort with the International Monetary Fund. Furthermore, Shibli discussed the initiation of a new economic reform program in partnership with the Fund for a four-year period, commencing in the current year 2024, aiming to sustain economic and financia
l structural reforms.

Shibli expressed appreciation for the support of Arab countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar, given the prevailing circumstances and geopolitical fluctuations in the region.
