Jordan, as one of the most advanced countries in renewable energy, is eyeing the production, utilization and export of green hydrogen, said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh. Patronizing a workshop titled “Legal and Regulatory Framework Options for the Production, Utilization and Export of Green Hydrogen in Jordan” organized by the ministry in cooperation with the World Bank Group, Kharabsheh indicated that energy transition is front and center everywhere around the world. “We have an ambitious vision laid out in the draft national hydrogen strategy, which will be subject to continuous revision to develop a legislative and regulatory framework that enables Jordan to create a suitable environment for green hydrogen production,” he said. Kharabsheh pointed to the formation of the National Green Hydrogen Committee tasked with the preparation of the national strategy for green hydrogen, legislation and studies regulating it, evaluating investment opportunities in this field and approving related procedures. The project comes in light of the need to find specialized procedures for hydrogen in Jordan and as part of the Ministry of Energy’s role in implementing its projects outlined in the Economic Modernization Vision to make Jordan a regional hub for energy transfer and exchange, he added.
