Jordan, Malaysia Explore Expanding Academic, Student Exchange Programs

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research held discussions with a Malaysian delegation on Wednesday to explore avenues for expanding student and academic exchange programs, as well as scientific research collaborations between Jordanian and Malaysian educational institutions.

Secretary-General Mamoun Debie emphasized the significance of strengthening academic and scientific ties between Jordan and Malaysia during the meeting, which included representatives from the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education and major Malaysian universities.

He highlighted Jordan’s commitment to deepening partnerships with Malaysian universities, particularly in the fields of technology, applied sciences, and research.

The discussions also addressed streamlining the process for admitting Malaysian students to Jordanian universities and facilitating reciprocal opportunities for Jordanian students in Malaysia.

Both sides expressed appreciation for the strong existing relations between their countries and voiced op
timism that the visit would open new opportunities for cooperation in higher education and research.

Currently, 1,800 Malaysian students are studying in Jordan, with an additional 520 expected to join Jordanian universities in the 2024/2025 academic year.
