Jordan Commerce Chamber Joins Executive Committee of Arab Union

The Jordan Chamber of Commerce participated on Monday in the 135th session of the Board of Directors of the Union of Arab Chambers, held in Doha, with representatives from various Arab countries.

During the meeting, the Board elected the Jordan Chamber of Commerce as a member of the Executive Committee of the Union, alongside representatives from Morocco and Oman. The Executive Committee is composed of seven members, including the President, two vice presidents, the Treasurer, and three members elected from the heads of chambers or unions. This committee will serve a two-year term.

A statement from the Jordan Chamber of Commerce highlighted that the meeting addressed several topics related to pan-Arab action, aimed at enhancing economic cooperation and increasing intra-Arab trade.

The discussions also focused on activating the private sector’s role and improving collaboration among business sectors throughout the Arab world. Additionally, members reviewed strategic items on the agenda concerning critical r
egional and international challenges and their significant impacts on the Arab economy.

Khalil Haj Tawfiq, Chairperson of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, underscored that the chamber’s participation in these meetings reflects the commercial sector’s commitment to pan-Arab economic initiatives. He emphasized the importance of integration and economic unity, as well as coordination with other Arab chambers to bolster the status of the Arab business community.

Haj Tawfiq noted that the Jordan Chamber of Commerce aims to strengthen economic ties between Jordanian businesses and their counterparts in the Arab region while exploring investment opportunities in promising sectors.

The meetings included valuable discussions with heads of Arab chambers and other participants, focusing on promoting available investment and trade opportunities in Jordan.

He also pointed out that the chamber’s delegation actively engaged in numerous meetings on the agenda, particularly with the Executive Committee of the Beirut-based
Union and the Joint Arab and Foreign Chambers of Commerce Affairs Committee.
