The Minister of Youth, Muhammad Nabulsi, and his Australian counterpart, Anne Azza Aly, convened alongside the Australian Ambassador to Jordan, Bernard Lynch, to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation on youth initiatives and addressing priority youth issues.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Nabulsi detailed Jordan’s comprehensive efforts in the youth sector, highlighting the royal patronage that underscores these initiatives.
He elaborated on strategies aimed at empowering youth, bolstering their participation in public life, creating dedicated youth spaces, and developing programs that align with their aspirations.
Nabulsi emphasized Jordan’s leading role in regional youth work, noting the country’s pioneering development of a national youth strategy.
Additionally, Jordan chairs the committee responsible for formulating the Arab Strategy for Youth, Security, and Peace, which seeks to implement UN Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security.
This resolution, unanimously adopted by the Se
curity Council, was championed by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II during his presidency of the Council session in 2015.
The minister also outlined the ministry’s programs promoting active citizenship, volunteerism, political participation, leadership, and innovation.
Minister Aly lauded Jordan’s leadership regarding the Palestinian issue and the situation in Gaza, acknowledging Jordan’s respected standing and influential voice in the international community.
She underscored that youth issues permeate political, health, economic, and cultural spheres.
Aly provided an overview of Australia’s youth initiatives, including programs designed to integrate youth into public life and the establishment of youth committees to involve young people in decision-making processes.
She expressed Australia’s endorsement of the youth, security, and peace agenda, and welcomed Jordan’s proactive efforts to implement UN Resolution 2250 at both local and international levels.
Both ministers underscored the significance o
f establishing youth exchange programs between Jordan and Australia to facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge.
