President of Jordan National Red Crescent Society (JNRCS), Dr. Mohammed Hadid, said “humanity is dying after international humanitarian law was scrapped.” Hadid pointed to multiple violations committed against defenseless Palestinian civilians protected under international humanitarian law in Gaza. Speaking at a symposium organized by JNRCS, in cooperation with National Committee of. International Humanitarian Law on Thursday, entitled: “Humanity is in Danger,” Hadid highlighted necessity of providing protection for Palestinian civilians, including children, women, the elderly, and medical teams, to facilitate provision of health care to people in need amid the current war on Gaza Strip. The symposium issued a statement, dubbed: “An Appeal to Human Conscience to Stop Violations of Israeli Occupation.” During the event, a committee was also announced, headed by Hadid, and comprised of four members, aimed to document Israel’s violations of international humanitarian law. The committee was formed upon JNRCS’s proposal at the level of the Islamic Committee of the International Crescent (ICIC), one of the institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the statement said.
