The Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) signed a cooperation agreement aimed at streamlining the delivery of essential aid to Gaza.
This initiative facilitates contributions from Jordan’s industrial sector, ensuring the logistical support necessary for the agency’s operations inside the Kingdom.
Under the agreement, Jordanian industries will provide critical supplies such as food, shelter, and healthcare resources. In addition, they will offer logistical backing by providing storage facilities and preparing relief shipments for the besieged population of Gaza.
Fathi Jaghbir, President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, highlighted the significance of supporting Palestinians amidst the ongoing Israeli aggression. He emphasized that Jordanian industrialists acted swiftly, contributing over $80 million in both in-kind and cash donations since the onset of the crisis.
Jaghbir also noted the ongoing “Payment
of Debt” campaign, launched by Jordan’s industrial chambers, which continues to gather resources for Gaza’s resilience.
Praising UNRWA’s role, Jaghbir described the agreement as a pivotal move to sustain relief efforts. He stressed that the chamber serves as a hub for coordinating industrial contributions, working closely with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization and other international entities to ensure effective distribution.
Hanan Cherki, Head of the Central Support Services Division at UNRWA, echoed the significance of this partnership, stating that it represents a critical step in addressing the pressing needs of Gaza’s residents amid worsening living conditions.
