Jais Flight zip line offers unparalleled thrill in Ras Al Khaimah

RAS AL KHAIMAH: The Jais Flight zip line, spanning nearly three kilometres and located in Ras Al Khaimah, has been certified by Guinness World Records as the longest in the world.

Situated on the country’s highest peak, Jebel Jais Mountain, towering over 1,930 metres tall, is emerging as a landmark for adventure tourism in the Middle East.

The meeting point before embarking on the sky journey is at the Jais Adventure Park welcome centre, where visitors can purchase tickets, grab a refreshment, or dine at the 1484 by Puro restaurant before leaving their belongings to receive instructions and begin gearing up.

Yanick, an adventurous Canadian tourist, told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that he travelled to the UAE to ‘experience the world’s longest zip line.’

“It’s been a crazy, amazing, and unique experience. I’ve never done anything like it. You go so fast, like you’re flying like a bird. Highly recommended,” he said.

Access to the zip line, located 1,680 metres above sea level, has no age restrictions b
ut requires a weight between 40 and 120 kilograms and a minimum height of 122 centimetres for safe flying.

Once outfitted in the safety gear and harness, adventurers launch themselves down the zip line in a Superman position to cover a journey of approximately two minutes, ending on a platform suspended in the air with a glass floor.

The zip line team boasts years of experience in adventure sports and steel cable attractions, ensuring a safe experience under the highest standards of excellence.

Alejandro Soto, Operations Manager of Jais Zipline Park, from Costa Rica, said that ‘safety standards are met, in addition to inspecting the daily zip line operation and training staff.’

Philip Durrell, RAK Leisure’s Senior Operations Director, said that the world’s longest zip line is just one of the attractions offered on Jebel Jais Mountain, a project aiming to position Ras Al Khaimah as a tourist destination, offering a “mix of activities for all types of audiences,” away from the typical desert-related options
in the Emirates.

According to Durrell, originally from the UK, Jebel Jais ‘has everything, from less challenging hikes to the Sky Tour, a zip line route that spans the wadi from side to side over five kilometres.’

For the less adventurous, there’s the Jais Sledder, a sort of roller coaster embedded in the natural landscape, allowing users to control the braking and acceleration system, choosing the intensity with which they want to experience the attraction.

Durrell’s advice for “enjoying Ras Al Khaimah” is to arrive “with an open mind” and “explore” all the possibilities at one’s own pace.
