Amman: The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) has called on all taxpayers to file their income tax returns for the 2023 fiscal year electronically and pay the declared amounts via electronic payment methods.

The ISTD emphasized the importance of filling out these returns with accurate and realistic information that reflects their actual income. It noted that all categories of taxpayers, including employees, individuals, companies, and development zones, can submit their returns by logging into the ISTD’s website (www.istd.gov.jo) and selecting the “Electronic Services” icon.

The ISTD explained that a natural person who is an employee or user is required to file an income tax return if their total annual income from all sources of income or from business activities, including salaries and wages, exceeds JD9,000 for a non-dependent and JD18,000 dinars for a dependent.

The ISTD clarified that the deduction of income tax from salaries and wages on a monthly basis from the employer does not exempt those who
se annual income exceeds the exemption limit from filing income tax returns.

The ISTD also called on company and establishment owners, managers, and individuals who are required to use the National Electronic Invoicing System to ensure that their financial managers, accountants, or authorized representatives register these companies, establishments, and individuals’ activities in the system and issue invoices originally through the system or through electronic linking to the invoicing system.

It explained that if they have not yet registered in the invoicing system, they must register in the system and rectify their status with the system requirements as soon as possible in order to avoid legal accountability and receive legal fines.

The ISTD pointed out that filing returns and registering in the National Electronic Invoicing System is done electronically through the ISTD’s website. Taxpayers can also contact the ISTD’s taxpayer services center by phone, WhatsApp, or various social media platforms to recei
ve the required assistance, answer their inquiries and comments, and help them with the processing of their transactions electronically and respond to them as soon as possible.
