Israeli forces suppress peaceful event demanding reopening of road in Masafer Yatta, foreign activists detained

Several foreign activists were detained today as Israeli forces suppressed a peaceful event demanding the reopening and rehabilitation of Carmel-Tawana road in Masafer Yatta in the south of the occupied West Bank, according to local activist Osama Makhamreh. On May 23, the occupation forces stopped work on the said road, which serves the residents of al-Carmel and al-Tawana in Masafer Yatta and the town of Yatta. Israel does not allow Palestinian development in Area C, which makes up over 60 percent of the area of the West Bank, and uses it for settlement construction only.
