Israeli forces impose fines in exchange of release of Palestinian cow

JORDAN: The Israeli occupation authorities Tuesday imposed a heavy fine on a Palestinian citizen from the Jordan Valley in exchange for the release of dozens of cows that they seized last month.

Human rights activist Arif Daraghmeh said that the occupation forces imposed a fine on Qadri Daraghmeh, a resident of Ain al-Hilweh, of about NIS144,000 in exchange for the release of 48 cows that the occupation seized twenty days ago while they were grazing in the Jordan Valley.

A few days ago, the occupation forces imposed a fine of NIS49,000 on Daraghmeh in exchange for the release of 19 heads of cows.

The northern Jordan Valley is subjected often to attacks led by colonists, protected by the occupation forces, against citizens.

Daraghmeh said that a colonialist seized approximately 80 of his cows while they were grazing in pastures near Ain Al-Hilweh, adding that he paid approximately NIS50,000 a week ago, noting that it is difficult to pay the new fine.
