Israeli occupation forces Friday continued their assault on the town of Jabalia and its refugee camp, north of Gaza City, for the sixth consecutive day, maintaining a tight blockade on all access routes. The siege is accompanied by heavy bombardment from warplanes, drones, and artillery.
As the siege drags on, the humanitarian situation in Jabalia camp becomes increasingly dire. Food, medicine and water supplies have been cut off, and emergency medical teams are unable to enter the area to recover the bodies of victims or evacuate the injured.
On October 6th, the Israeli military launched a new offensive against Jabalia, following an intense attack on the eastern and western areas of northern Gaza-the most violent assault since May. The military has previously carried out two ground operations in Jabalia, in November and December of last year.
This is the third ground operation conducted by Israeli forces in Jabalia since the beginning of the genocidal war against the strip on October 7, 2023.
Since the
beginning of this week, the Israeli army has committed massacres against civilians in northern Gaza, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation caused by the ongoing blockade. The area has been subjected to violent attacks on infrastructure, roads, and remaining civilian homes, effectively isolating communities from one another.
The siege is also part of a systematic starvation campaign, as Israeli forces have targeted bakeries and blocked the entry of food, medicine, water and fuel.
Israeli drones continue to fire indiscriminately at any moving target, putting civilians at greater risk. Since the start of this week, Israeli forces have sieged the last three operational hospitals in northern Gaza-Kamal Adwan, Al-Awda, and the Indonesian hospitals-demanding their evacuation, which has worsened the humanitarian crisis.
