Israeli forces attack Palestinians, foreign activists protesting settlers’ return to evacuated settlement

Dozens of Palestinians and a number of international activists suffocated today as Israeli forces violently suppressed residents’ of the town of Burqa, northwest of Nablus, who marched peacefully in condemnation of the Israeli occupation authorities’ decision to allow Israeli settlers to return to the evacuated Homesh settlement outpost in the north of the occupied West Bank, said a local official. Ghassan Daghlas, in charge of the settlement file in the northern West Bank, said that the military soldiers opened live fire and tear gas canisters at the protesters, causing dozens to suffocate. The military use of tear gas canisters caused several trees and crops to catch fire. The march demanded the dismantling and removal of the settler buildings placed inside the Homesh settlement, which was evacuated in 2005,
