Israeli colonists attack Ramallah-governorate village

RAMALLAH: Israeli colonists Wednesday evening attacked the Burqa village, east of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to a local source.

Head of Burqa Village Council, Sayel Kanaan, said that colonists mounted an attack against the village from the west, simultaneously when the occupation forces stormed the village to protect the assailants.

In the course of the ensuing confrontations, the gun-toting soldiers fired volleys of flare bombs and live ammunition.

There was no immediate information about casualties.

Colonist violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.

Colonist violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Over 700,000 Israeli colonists are living in colonies across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
