NABLUS: Israeli colonists Wednesday attacked a mosque in Khirbet Tana, which forms a part of the Beit Furik town, east of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to an activist.

Thaer Hanani, the head of the Committee for the Defense of Tana Lands, said that colonists vandalized the sole mosque Khirbet Tana, smashing the solar panels generating electricity to it and wreaking havoc inside.

He added that Khirbet Tana has become a target of ongoing colonists’ attacks and the occupation authorities have displaced the community several times in an attempt to seize their land for colonial settlement construction.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Over 700,000 Israeli colonists are living in colonies across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank
in violation of international law.
