Israel continues to obstruct access to health facilities in Jenin

JENIN – Ma’an – The scale and intensity of the four-day Israeli incursion into Jenin is “absolutely alarming,” Doctors Without Borders said, as Israeli forces continue to obstruct access to health facilities, block the passage of vehicles and even target ambulances, delaying people’s access to care.

The international organization added in a brief statement published via the “X” platform, today, Sunday, that in Jenin Governmental Hospital, supported by Doctors Without Borders, which has been besieged by Israeli forces since the beginning of the incursion, electricity and water supplies are at risk, and the medical team was forced to stop dialysis operations, which is an essential procedure in treating kidney failure.

She continued, ‘In Tulkarm, after the withdrawal of Israeli forces, our teams saw the destruction in the camps, and heard disturbing accounts from a volunteer trained by MSF who was beaten and interrogated.’

She called on Israel to respect its obligations as an occupying power in the West Bank,
including the need to respect access to medical care, and hospitals, ambulances and the medical humanitarian mission must be respected and protected.
