Amman: Secretary General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA), Abdullah Kaanan, said Zionist aggression and genocide in the occupied Gaza Strip and escalation of regional tensions have not distracted the Israeli occupation from its plan to continue Judaizing the city of Jerusalem.
In a statement to “Petra” on Sunday, Kaanan said this situation reflects importance of Jerusalem and its historical and religious symbolism in facing Israeli colonialism, which seeks to impose an alleged Jewish-Zionist identity on the holy city, erase its Arab distinguished history, and forcibly replace its people with settlers.
Kaanan noted this Israeli policy is based on murders, arrests, home demolitions, confiscation of property, storming Islamic and Christian sanctities, and settlement.
On the needed action, Kanaan added that the RCJA calls on the free world, in light of the escalation of the Israeli attacks in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, to obligate Israel to implement international legitimacy resolut
ions and agreements to achieve peace and establish the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Additionally, Kaanan said Jordan’s position is “firm and consistent” in rejecting the Israeli Judaizing policy that opposes international legitimacy, as His Majesty King Abdullah II, the custodian over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites, reiterated the Kingdom’s unwavering political and diplomatic principles in this regard.
